Thanksgiving: Ingress Style

Today is Thanksgiving in the United States – a day on which Americans traditionally get together with their families, enjoy a feast, and reflect on all the things we are thankful for.

When it comes to Ingress, there is a lot to be thankful for this year.

I am thankful for the many, many people I have met along the way playing this game — some in person, and may more in communities and chats who I never would have known were it not for this game.

I am thankful for the in-person events I got to participate in this year – First Saturdays, XM Anomalies, Mission Days, and a Field Test. I am deeply grateful for all of the many agent-volunteers who have worked to make these events enjoyable and successful.

I am thankful for all of the murals and sculptures I have seen, the trails I have traveled, and how I have been able to see my community in new ways.

I am thankful for all the agents that have taken time to create missions to help guide me through new cities, gifting me with a guided tour and a beautiful souvenir of my travels.

I am thankful for new events that Niantic has given us this year, continuing to give us new ways to experience and enjoy Ingress, from the individual challenges to the cross-faction shards to the Tessellation.

And perhaps most of all, I am thankful that I don’t live anywhere near Las Vegas, so I can spend today with my family, and not have to explain to them that I will be late to dinner because of a game.
